In a country like Nepal where many students are unsure about their future after school, Glocal has been helping them to find clarity and direction. Glocal helps youths across Nepal by delivering Career Guidance Services which have meaningful changes particularly in students from Koshi, Bagmati, and Lumbini Provinces.
Why Career Guidance Matters
Nepal’s education system faces a growing challenge, only 66.1% of students continue their education after Grade 10 (Secondary Education Examination – SEE). Similarly, the upper secondary completion rate is just 27%, according to UNICEF’s 2022 Nepal Education Fact Sheet. According to these data, there is a critical need for structured career guidance to help students understand their potential and make informed choices, find out career discovery paths and be ready for the world of work.
Additionally, many students and youths pursue foreign education or employment due to limited opportunities, resulting in skill mismatches and underemployment. Glocal’s initiative steps to bridge the gap between education and the labor market which is very important.
Glocal’s Career Guidance Program
In collaboration with HELVETAS – ENSSURE, Glocal successfully established and operationalized Career Guidance Service Centers across Bagmati, Koshi, and Lumbini Provinces. These centers are now providing essential support to students, helping them discover their strengths, weaknesses, and interests while offering clear insights into various career paths. The initiative covers a wide range of guidance, including information on industries, job roles, and the skills and qualifications needed for success.
The project has made a significant impact by reaching 1.205 youth and students through individual face-to-face counseling and an additional 3,201 students through group sessions. Glocal also mentored 173 schools and conducted 854 counseling sessions for parents to ensure holistic career guidance. In embracing digitalization, the program reached 10,757 people, further enhancing its impact. Additionally, 812 teachers received technical support to provide effective career guidance to their students. This initiative has not only empowered students and educators but has also made career services more accessible and impactful across three provinces, ensuring that career guidance is a continuous, inclusive, and empowering process rather than just a one-time event.
As an outcome, students get a personalized digital career profile, lifetime access to their career assessment results, and professional guidance tailored to their strengths and interests.

The initiative not only supports students but also benefits schools from improved student engagement, better academic and career success rates, and a reputation for delivering holistic education. Moreover, by involving teachers, parents, and the broader community, Glocal is fostering an environment where career development is a shared responsibility.
