Coca-Cola presents Youth Dialogue is a monthly series of youth-focused discussion sessions organized by Glocal Pvt. Ltd. A platform where different people from different sectors share their experiences, challenges, and motivations.

Youth dialogue delivered fascinating sessions on a variety of topics like sport, environment, entertainment, business, culture, and tourism to develop skills for an ever-changing market. The speakers of the program include youth influencers, skillful people, entrepreneurs, politicians, and celebrities. It is a 1- hour long discussion series that contains a live audience and later it will be broadcast through YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook.

Youth Dialogue’s ninth episode conversed on the topic of “Our Mountain, Our Responsibility.” An enlightening and incredibly invigorating session ended with a successful presence of students amidst an event held at the premises of the NCTTM College, Laximpat. The dialogue had the presence of three amazing personalities as the invitees of the Youth Dialogue and they were:

  1. Brigadier General, Mr. Himanshu Khadka Sir;
  2. Mr. Ghanashyam Gurung, Country Director, WWF Nepal
  3. Mr. Adarsh Awasthi, Country Director for Nepal and Bhutan of The Coca-Cola company

The discussion was moderated by Ms. Saru Pyakurel, Corporate Manager at Glocal Pvt. Ltd.

Here’s the gist of the discussion

The session began with the introduction of Mountain Cleanup Camp 2022. Nepal has been creating a different identity in the world due to its different mountains. Mountains have always been the attraction point for many tourists in the nation. And “Clean Mountain Campaign-2022” has been launched this year under the leadership of the Nepal Army to clean the mountains. As a continuation of the Clean Mountain Campaign started by the Government of Nepal, Nepal Army has taken the lead this year. This campaign has been started with the theme “An Endeavor to Save the Himalayas”. The campaign aims to collect about 35 tons of garbage from four mountains: Everest, Lhotse, Kanchenjunga, and Manaslu.

One student from NCTTM College, Ms. Nirmala Karki, reflected on the topic; after which a Mountain Cleanup 2022 video was played. Then, our distinguished panelists were invited on the stage and they were honored with Khada & Bouquet. Right after that, the dialogue officially began and Brigadier General, Mr. Himanshu Khadka Sir presented about the Mountain Cleanup Campaign 2022 & the success of the project. It was an intensive sharing, as the project was truly amazing as it was helping to restore the mountain ecosystem. Mr. Khadka shared, Nepal Army initiated the mountain cleanup campaign in 2021 & since then, the project has been undergoing necessary coordination and cooperation with the local government, stakeholder organizations, and locals. He also discussed the sustainability of the campaign & major actions being implemented for the success of the campaign. 

Mr. Gurung, Country Director at WWF Nepal talked about the formulation of adaptation plans in the global mountain context. Moreover, he highlighted the role of an individual & a whole community in terms of the restoration of the mountain ecosystem. He also talked about climate change issues and their impact on the mountain.

Mr. Awasthi, Country Director for Nepal and Bhutan of The Coca-Cola company talked about their role in supporting & partnering with Mountain Cleanup Camp 2022. He also highlighted their endeavor leading to saving the Himalayas and shared about the efforts that youth can do to strengthen & contribute towards the environmental ecosystem. He also talked about various environmental efforts that Coca-Cola Foundation has been leading.

Lastly,

They shared their message with the youths. The panelists also addressed questions from the audience. As a result of the discussion, the audience got informed about the Mountain Cleanup Campaign. Similarly, the dialogue shed awareness about the most prominent mountain issues, and efforts being made to address the issues. The talk highlighted the major steps that can be taken as an individual to protect Mother Earth.

There were 100+ audiences in the Hall of NCTTM College. The college department was truly supportive and the entire episode went pretty well. An evaluation sheet was given to each audience to share how they liked the episode and the concept of the program. As per the evaluation sheet filled, the students found the episode really informative.

The closing remark was put forward by Ms. Chaya Sharma, Chairman & Founder at NCTTM College. She thanked the organizers for conducting such a meaningful episode of Youth Dialogue in her college. She also thanked the panelists for sharing their words about the Mountain Cleanup event that is happening. The Token of Love was distributed to the panelists.
